Alberta-based author Nancy Millar roamed through graveyards around Canada, hoping to discover and share the unique way people want to be remembered after death. On her journey, Millar stumbled on plenty of “Rest in Peace” and “Beloved” but she also found an increasing number of quirky final farewells like “I’d rather be in Boston watching the Red Sox,” “This wasn’t my idea” and “I’m not here, I’m havin’ a beer.” Millar has now published a book, “The Final Word: The Book of Canadian Epitaphs,” of all the sweet, funny, romantic, and just plain weird gravestone good-byes.
